Make Art! @ The Blue Pig
Our art studio program offers you the opportunity to explore an art medium along with a professional artist while they work in the gallery. Throughout the month artists are working every day at the gallery. Some artists will open the studio in the gallery to the public to work along side them. The medium and style changes with the artist. Details will be posted here on the website.
While these Make Art! studio exchanges will not operate as a structured class, they will offer beginners a chance to get familiar with a medium or working artists a place to create or finish a work with the camaraderie of fellow art makers.These sessions are largely independent and in most cases participants need to bring their own supplies. Tuesday, September 7th - Bits and Pieces with Gayle Gerson - Gayle offers the opportunity to explore the crazy-quilt possibilities of collage. Each creative session will start with a short demo of a collage technique by Gayle followed by working alone. Be sure to get your materials lists when you R.S.V.P. $15 per session. Call to reserve a spot anytime after 11 a.m. and make art for 4 hour sessions.
Wednesday, September 15th - Photography Portfolio Review with Rick Kaylin - This session will examine the basic process of building a photography portfolio. Rick will provide suggestions and guidance. $15 per session. Choose: 10am - 12 pm, 12 - 2 pm, 2- 4 pm or 4 - 6pm.
Friday, September 17th - Animal Creations with Kay Crane - Kay's animals show a whimsical side with use of bright, bold color and relaxed brushwork. Bring a picture of your favorite animal or your pet to either work with either oil, acrylic or pastel. Bring reference materials and medium you are most comfortable with. Cost is $15 per 4 hour session. Call 464-4819 to register for the 10am - 2pm or 2pm - 6pm session.
Saturday, September 18th - Mulder's Batik Method with Vera Mulder -Vera offers the opportunity to learn her own batik methods. You will create a two dimensional art project or invent a new pattern for quilt making. Be sure to get your materials list when you sign up. Thursday, September 23rd - Oil Painting: A Variety of Techniques with Travis Jardon - Travis brings a subtle power and depth to his masterful oil paintings through the technique of layering. Bring your own oil paint supplies. Travis offers guidance and demos from 2 - 6pm. $15.00 per person. Call the gallery, 970-46-4819 to register.
Thursday, September 30th - Basic Watercolor Techniques with Nancy Lewis - Nancy offers the opportunity to explore the inner artist in you! Each creative session will include experimental techniques by Nancy followed by working independently. Be sure to get your materials list when you sign up. $15 per session. Call to reserve your spot: 1:30 - 5:30 pm.
Glass Bead Making Workshop
Bead Making with Artist Joseph Browne. $50.00/per person. Minimum (and maximum) of 2 students per session. Age: 16 and older, please. This one day, 5-hour seminar offers a great introduction to the art of glass at an incredible value! Classes take place in the glass studio behind The Blue Pig Gallery. Date to be determined by instructor and student. Materials are included. Call Joseph at 464-9210 to reserve your spot.
