Growing up in Boulder, Colorado the foothills were Jana Newby’s playground. It is no wonder that landscapes have been her subject matter for most of her life. While studying fine arts at Colorado Mesa University in the late 1990s, Jana had the opportunity to try her hand at many different media and has used different processes to achieve her artist goals. Alcohol ink is a dye pigment suspended in alcohol. As the artist spreads it, the alcohol evaporates and the pigments are left behind. The process is free flowing and intuitive.
